Final project DRAFT PART 7

Xtranormal is a site that brings movie making to the people. It allows people to make a movie using their own script and animated characters on the site. Xtranomal has numerous amounts of settings, actors, and music you can choose when making your movie. The subject of are movie is prostitution, in are movie there is a prostitute trying to convince the police officer to pay for sex.  The police officer turns her down and tries to take her to jail after he explained to her that prostitution is illegal. Then the prostitute explains to him why she thinks it should be illegal and the officer agrees.  In are video we use an exotic female in bra and panties and undercover office dressed in street clothes. The setting we choose was a bed room setting. The default characters and settings both contribute to creating an authentic environment and situation as possible just as it happens in real life. Xtranormal is a good site to use when making a movie but it does has some downfalls. Xtranormal might not be one of the best sites to use because it’s an animated site. All the characters and settings are animated. This creates a cartoonish kiddy look in your movie.  This is not a good thing because if you’re making a movie for an older audience the animated look and loose them quickly. Also if you’re trying to give a message in your movie your audience has to listen and take it seriously. An example is in are movie the message is about legalizing prostitution. Prostitution is a very serious topic and the animation in the movie takes away from it. Are audience might not hear are message because they do not take the movie seriously. Things that we wish we could have done in are movie that were not available on the extra normal site were have more characters and settings to choose from or create our own characters and settings. Also have more scenes during the movie. Creating are own characters from head to toe, dressing them, picking body hair and facial features would be fun. Having more scenes and camera angles during the movie would make it like an actual movie. A software program we could use instead of Xtranormal is Sony Vegas. This program lets you mix and edit movies using your own video character setting and script. It has a number of different tools to edit and create a movie.

Final Draft DEFENTION ESSAY

Jerrod Scarber
Mr. Paszek
English 1020-001
20 July 2011
The summer was over and it is the beginning of Jason eleventh grade semester.  Starting the eleventh grade with a GPA standing at a 1.8 Jason next two years of school were very important to his life. The ACT’S were coming up in the fall and college applications were piling up in the hard drive of Jason’s computer.  Not really thinking about grades and college before the eleventh grade Jason has finally sat down and thought about these things and his life after high school. Jason has come to conclude that he needs to go to college and earn a degree but he realizes this is not as easy as it sounds. With a low GPA and bad test taking skills Jason is faced with one of many important experiences and decisions in his teenage life. Jason signs up for his classes and gets to work. His last two years high school was his best year’s academic wise. Jason ended his last year of high school with a 2.6 GPA and a 14 on his ACT score, after taking it twice. Jason applied to many college universities and were accepted to a couple. He decide to go to a major university close to home after getting accepted threw a program for students who didn’t meet the general education requirements to be regularly admitted. These students are basically given a second chance to be admitted to the university even though they have low ACT scores and GPAs which Jason did. After starting the eleventh grade and realizing it was time to do something with himself, Jason was hit with many important life decisions in his teenage life. Just like him many teenagers are face with the same important decisions. Questions like what college are you going to? what is your ACT score? What are your plans after high school? Are just some of many questions teenagers are face to deal with. These can be very stressful on a teenager but are very important to their life. These situations are experience by everybody in their teenage life. People are faced with a decision to finally step out on their own and become an adult. During the teenage years there are many experiences that test the teenager responsibility and decision making skills as their growing up. Most people call the teenager years the adolescence of life meaning the transition stage of mental and human development but I believe that teenage life is a training session for adult hood.
In the 1900s most people did not acknowledge there was a thing as adolescent until an American physiologist and educator Stanley Hall created the theory.  Adolescent development is between the ages of 14 and 24. In Jeffery Jesnese article “G. STANLEY HALL’S ADOLESCENCE: Brilliance and Nonsense” he quotes Stanley Hall stating that  “storm and stress is a universal and inevitable part of adolescent development”. Also stated by Jeffery Jensen in his article he says the Stanley insures that adolescents is when all young people go through some degree of emotional and behavioral upheaval before establishing a more stable equilibrium in adulthood. I agree with Jeffery article on Stanley research believing that teenage life is adolescences development. During this time of teenager years the teenager is seeing and experience new things in life and their brain is still fresh as stated by an 18 year old high school student Nthabiseng in her article “Teen life”  the brain is like a sponge and soaks up everything that comes to it. Adolescence can also be physical development according to Novella Ruffin, Extension Specialist, and Virginia State University in his article “Adolescent Growth and Development teenage boys and girls can grow physically 3 to 4 inches at a time. Also sex characteristics tend to rise such as hormonal levels also boy’s facial and pubic hairs tend to grow, and their voices get deeper. Girls reach their first menstrual cycle their breasts get bigger and they tend to form a nice body shape.

Being a teenage can be a very stressful time in life. Most teenagers are put to the test with making decisions as they go through situations. There is countless number of things teen’s experiences in their life. Some are drugs, alcohol, pregnancy, peer pressure and relationships. Trying to balance all these things at once can take a toll on a teenager’s life. First drugs and alcohol is a big influence in teenagers’ life. Some teenagers use drugs and alcohol because they think it is cool and it gives them a good feeling. This can put a teenager at risk of multiple things. Underage drinking and doing drugs can be harmful to the teen’s life. Some teenagers get addicted at an early age and become immune to the alcohol and drugs this sets up a bad effect in the adulthood years by starting off early. Second relationships can be just as life threatening as drugs and alcohol. As a teenager your hormones are raging and you are attracted to the opposite sex. Teenagers tend to get into relationships with other people. These reactions can cause stress and emotional withdraw. Teenagers might feel they need to be with someone in order to be happy. As a result of being with someone this can bring on teen pregnancy and  marriage. Both of these are becoming real common in teenage life. Also relationships with family and friends can be demanding as well. Some teenagers go through divorces with their parents and this can be stressful on the teen. This can affect their grades and personal life. The relationships teenager have with their friends can be overwhelming friends can put the friends under peer pressure to do things. These things can be drugs, alcohol, stealing, etc. Some teenagers think they might have  to do these things to fit in or look cool, to attracted attention.  I know hands on how it feels to deal with each of these things personally. I’ve been under lots of peer pressure negative and positive. Both can be very stress full. Also going through high school balancing my grades and sports was not easy, and last but not least drugs and alcohol was always around. The people I hang out with everyday were everyday users and always wanted me to join them. All these things tested my ability to make my own decisions good or bad, and experience things that would change my life. As I sit back and look at some of the things I went through and currently are still experiencing it make me come to conclude that teenage life is a  training session for adult hood.  All these situations and life experiences teens go through effect, prepare and contribute to the teen’s adulthood. The experiences are very vital and can prepare a teenager for adulthood.  If teenager does bad in high school and doesn’t go to college their chance of getting a high paying career are very slim. Also another example is if you commit a crime and go to jail with a felony placed on your record this can affect your ability of getting a job in your adulthood. Some things can prepare a teen for adulthood. An example is a family four one brother and three sisters. One of the sisters is the oldest. She takes on the responsibility of watching her younger siblings. This gives her a chance to experience how to take care of another person. It’s a learning experience as a teenager when she reaches adulthood and have children of her own, she will have some experience taking care of a child.
Training sessions prepares some one for the next level just like teenage life (training session for adulthood) drivers training are both similar. As a teenager at 16 if you want your licenses you have to undergo a training session to receive your level 1, level 2, level three, and operator’s licenses. Once you study driving, practice going out on the road, and take various test you receive your license. This relates to teenage life because during this time you are put through numerous situations experiences and test ant a young age that prepares you for adulthood. Also even know you went through these test and experiences you still don’t know exactly what adulthood or driving with a license is until you actually go out and experience them, but you have been prepared well.
Jason didn’t realize what he was getting himself into his early year of high school until the eleventh grade of high school after working his tale off  his last two years he was able to go on to college. During this time he experience such things as peer pressure and very important decisions making in his teenage life or adolescences period according to Stanley Hall. This situation and experience prepared him for adult hood. As a teenage you don’t know what life is going to present its self with you half to take it and strive rolling with the punches, but there is numerous amount of situations and experiences you undergo. This situations are very vital to your adult hood can make or break it. Therefore this brings me to conclude that teenage life is a training session for adulthood.

Cultural Analysis FiNAL DRAFT

Jerrod Scarber
Mr. Paszek
English 1020-001
6 July 2011
According to the web page “A Brief History Of Rap and Hip Hop” Hip Hop is a culture of art and musical abilities and expressions, born in the African American and Latino communities of New York City during the 1970’s, It consists of four major elements djing, graffiti, breaking ,and mcing. Mcing is also known as rapping, which is spoken or chanted rhyming lyrics. Djing is when a Dj uses two albums creating tricks and scratches on a turntable. Breaking, also known as break dancing is a style of dance. Graffiti is an expression painted by artist using pictures. The Mcing element rapping is the biggest element out of the four. It has had the most impact and has created its own sub culture called rap culture Turntables, mixing boards, and computers are just some of the technology used in hip hop culture today. Without these Djs, artist, producers, and engineers would not be able to work the way they do playing, mixing, and producing music. Also they would not be able to connect to their audience. Technology has changed the way independent and mainstream rap artists promote and produce their music in the Hip Hop culture.
Since its birth, Hip Hop has emerged from the small community of the South Bronx, New York to become a worldwide culture. All over America the hip hop culture is being embraced by all races and communities. This culture is one of the main cultures in the entertainment industry today. Also it is one of the most controversial cultures in the entertainment industry today. The Hip Hop culture is also connected to the fashion and movie industry. It has created many entertainment moguls and entrepreneurs.
Back in the 1970’s when Hip Hop started, the technology were being used in its culture was slow paced. Disk records, turntables, and atrax were what artists and Djs used to put out their music and promote themselves. Most of the people in the Hip Hop culture communicated by using the radios listening to their favorite artists. The advancement in technology has changed the Hip Hop culture in a huge way. Now in the hip hop culture today technology has changed in a huge way. There are some many different forms of technology being used to communicate. Computer, Internet blogs, social networking sites are all being used. This technology has made it faster for fans and artists to communicate, also it has elevated the growth of Hip Hop culture and the audience it has.
Furthermore, Music production in the Hip Hop culture has been changed by technology. Desktops and laptop computers, and recording programs all play a big role in the change of music production. Desktop and laptop computers are being built bigger and faster. According to Dainel Roy a MIT college student, this gives rap artist in the Hip Hop culture better quality of sound when making their music. These computers have larger memory bases and faster hard drives, which make it faster for artists to record songs. Mainly desktops computers are being used in large recording studios. Mac computers are usually the choice of brand used by rap artists in the Hip Hop culture. The laptops computers are usually used by independent rap artists who do not have the money to record in big studios. Also, these laptops are being used at home to record music. Laptops give a independent artists the ability to create the same type of music mainstream rap artists do, without spending as much money. Recording programs are being used on the lap tops and desktops to produce the rap artist music. These programs do editing and mixing of the rap artists vocals and instrumentals. There are many recording programs to choose from. Some popular brands are Fruity Loops, Pro Tools, Acid Pro, and Logic. Studio equipment has changed rap culture with better microphones, mixing boards, and headphones, to record with. It gives artist a better sound and a more efficient way to edit their music. According to college student Daniel Roy, some popular brand name studio equipment is Akai, Tascan, and Korg.
Another major aspect of Hip Hop culture is promotion. Once artists have produced their music they need to promote it. There are many ways to accomplish this . The original way artists promoted their music was the radio and word of mouth at concerts. These worked well and have been the usual ways to promote since the 1970s, and today with the growth in technology, promotion has been taken to another level. The Internet has elevated the growth of promotion worldwide. Social networking, streaming, and file sharing sites play a big and important role in this growth. With these social networking and streaming sites, rap artists are able to promote their music worldwide from a computer. Streaming sites called Youtube and Ustream both let artists promote themselves with music videos, commercials, home videos, live chats, music, and pictures. Also with popular music catalog sites, for example Itunes and livemixtapes they can sell their CDs and publish their Mixtapes for free. File sharing site also give artists the ability to put out one song at a time on the Internet. Their fans are able to download it for free. These sites enable the artists to connect to their fans and audience. Also these help independent artists who are up and coming and financially not stable enough to promote like a main stream artist. They can promote from their own home without spending much money.
As a result of the changes in rap culture due to technology it has made a positive image on itself. Technology has brought a lot of good to the culture but also a lot of bad. Some negatives point’s technology has brought to rap culture are, music production the studio programs being used are making rap artists sound better than what they really are. The product called Autotune is an audio processor. It process vocals of artists and allows them to sing perfectly in tuned songs, without needing to exactly sing in tune. Autotune was originally created for singers but now is being used by rap artist. People criticize rap artist and the culture because the use of Autotune. People question the culture asking is Hip Hop dead?
Promotion has always been a main aspect in rap culture internet blogs, social networking, and streaming sites all have contributed to the change and growth of Hip Hop culture, But with the good technology has brought, it has also brought some bad. The bad effects technology has brought are criticize on and the culture from blogs. Popular blogs sites WorldsStarHipHop and Hot New Hip Hop criticize artists publicizing the negative events artists do. The blogs show a negative imagine of artist to their fans. This can hurt their careers also the artists can loose fans, their audience, record contracts, and credibility in the rap culture.
Briefly Hip Hop And technology have both come along way from the early 1970s when Hip Hop was born and the original aspects of technology was being used. From radio to word of mouth and concerts back the 1970s to today, the internet streaming, social networking sites, recording programs and desktop and laptop computers all play a big important role in the change in way main stream and independent artist promote themselves and produce their music. The change has had a positive effect on the culture and negative effect on the culture. With that being said Hip Hop culture will continue to be one of the biggest cultures of the world expanding everyday in technology. Technology will always be an important aspect of Hip Hop culture.

When I first got the essay for are rhetorical analysis I admit I was a little shaky about doing it. This was my first time Writting one and I had no clue on how to do it. But after Mr.Paszek explained it to us in class I was very confident that I could write one. After picking the movie training day and waiting to the last couple days to do it, I half to say I'm very proud of my first paper for the class I think I did well and can not wait to see my grade. All my life I have not been to good at writing papers but I think I did good with this one I put good thought and work in to it.

Rhetorical Analysis FINAL DRAFT

“Do you want to go to jail, or do you want to go home?”(Training Day). Can you imagine being asked this question? It is rather obvious what the answer should be: You want to go home.  Well, this is just one of the memorable quotes from the academy award winning movie Training Day, written by David Ayer and directed by Antoine Fuqua. Training Day is about a veteran police officer (Alonzo) who is training a rookie police officer (Jake). Jake accompanies Alonzo on a twenty-four-hour tour of duty, patrolling the tough streets of Los Angeles. Alonzo tries showing him tactics and strategies to become a good narcotics officer.  The director Fuqua attempts to show the most authentic environment possible by filming on the streets of the Los Angeles gangs. Fuqua informs his audience about the journeys of narcotics officers through gang-infested neighborhoods by using realistic portrays of characters, actual gang members, and their environment.
In Training Day, the rookie officer, Jake, does not know what the veteran officer, Alonzo, has in store for him during his twenty-four-hour-training period. For the twenty-four-hour duration, Alonzo tries to teach Jake the strategies of being a narcotics officer (nark). This is so that Jake can eventually become a nark and join the narcotics team. Jake is willing to learn but realizes Alonzo’s tactics and strategies are different from what he thought. Jake wants to protect and serve, locking up the criminals, but Alonzo wants to be a crooked officer. Alonzo puts Jake in numerous situations where he has to think under pressure. He convinces Jake to do drugs while on the job. After Jake is under the influence from the drugs he sees a teenage girl getting raped in alley. He jumps out the car and saves her, beating up the two men. Jake wants to arrest the two men but Alonzo just beats them up some more and lets them go. Jake is upset with Alonzo for letting them go but Alonzo insist on Jake to calm down. Stating the teenage girl cousins who are Los Angeles gang members will deal with the men.  Also, he takes Jake on a raid with three other narks during his training session. During this raid Alonzo kills a drug dealer/ex officer on purpose and makes it look like Jake killed him after the dealer shot one of the other narks entering the house during the raid. But really Alonzo purpose of raiding the house is he just wants to steal the four million dollars the dealer has in his kitchen floor. To pay back a debt Alonzo owes to the Russia Mob. If Alonzo does not pay this debt back the Russia Mob will kill him. The narcotics team and Alonzo seize the couple million dollars from the known drug dealers ‘property, but when Alonzo offers Jake to take a cut of the money, Jake is confused and says no. After realizing how Alonzo’s narcotics team is being run, Jake wants out. “This is not what I signed up for,” he states in Ayer’s Training Day. But by this time, it is too late. Alonzo has left him in a Los Angeles gang member’s house where the gang members are told to kill him. Jake, eventually, escapes after he convinces the Los Angeles gang members to let him go for saving their little cousin early in the movie.  Jake still wants to do the right thing, so he goes and finds Alonzo and takes back the money he stole early in a police raid that Alonzo is going to use to pay off the Russian mob. If Alonzo doesn’t pay off the debt, he will be killed. Jake still takes the money anyway and turns it in to the police as evidence. Alonzo gets killed later that night, Jake has no sympathy for him. He feels the Los Angeles Police Department and the streets of Los Angeles will be a better place without him.
Ayer used many good strategies to inform his audience on the life of narcotics officers and gang-infested neighborhoods. One strategy he used was showing the life of a crooked nark. This life shows how they abuse their authority, using it to their advantage, violating people’s rights, and breaking the law. In the movie, the veteran officer, Alonzo, is crooked. His actions show him stealing from drug dealers and killing ex-police officers.  Also, he harasses innocent teenagers, stealing from them as well. He gets away with it because he is a police officer, With this strategy, Ayer informs us on what’s out there in the real world.  Anyone who has been arrested or harassed by the police can relate to this. The strategy affects the audience in many ways. The audience can relate to this because they see it every day in the urban communities. They see police abusing the public arresting, harassing, and killing innocent people. This creates a sense of pathos with the audience getting emotional because they can relate to what they are seeing. They feel for people being treated so unfairly by crooked officers.
Furthermore, Ayer uses the life of a rookie nark trying to move up in the police force. In the movie, Jake just wants to be a police officer, a police officer that protects, serves, and locks away all the criminals. Jake wants to bring justice to anyone who breaks the law. He signs up for narcotics hoping to put away the drug dealers. In the movie, he constantly says, “I just want to lock up the bad guys”. This gives the audience a chance to see what being a nark really is all about. The audience can relate to this in many ways. Everybody knows how it feels being new to something and wanting to do what is right, especially law enforcement officers. I bet many officers who see this movie knew exactly how it feels being rookies on the force, being trained, hoping one day they can be part of the narcotics team. Ayer utilizes a great deal of pathos arousing emotion in these police officers and people who can relate to Jake’s journey. He is just trying to do what he loves to do.
Finally, the last strategy Ayer uses to inform his audience about the narcotics officer’s work and gang-infested communities is filming on the streets of Los Angeles. The streets of Los Angeles are very dangerous, particularly in the urban communities. On the streets drugs, poverty, violence, and most importantly gangs, exist. When shooting this film, this was the first time gangs even allowed cameras to be brought into their environment, which established ethos, giving the movie major credibility about the gangs and their way of living. The audience is connected to this because every state in United States of America has an urban community. During the movie, there were shootouts and drug scenes. Also there were drug users and rapists. Shootouts and drug transactions/altercations occur often in the urban communities of California. Some of gang members were not actors but actual members of Los Angeles street gangs. By incorporating actual gang members, Ayer gives a perfect description to his audience of gang life and the streets of Los Angeles.
David Ayer’s plan when writing this film was not just to tell an ordinary story of a narcotics officer but to show the audience the harsh reality of gangs and inner city violence which involve law enforcement, guilty and innocent people. The Los Angeles street setting was the perfect environment for the film. Ayer did a excellent job on informing his audience about the journeys of street cops and gang-infested neighborhoods by using two narcotics police officers, and the streets of Los Angeles. The streets of Los Angeles are a dangerous place and can even corrupt police officers. Jake found that out when he stepped into his trainer Alonzo’s office a Monte Carlo. Training Day demonstrates that just because individuals wear badges, they are not law abiding.

Does Technology change culture, or does culture change technology?

I believe that technology and culture both even out when being compared to each other. I don't think that culture changes technology or technology changes culture. I think that technology changes society. when i hear technology i think about how it has change the way we as people communicate. technology has made a whole new way of doing things. this includes doing things faster and accurate. When i hear the world culture i think about different religion and ethnic groups. Peoples morals and beliefs, the roots from which they came from.

Rhetorical Analysis Draft

Do you want to go to jail or do you want to go home can you imagine being asked this question. It’s pretty obvious of what the answer should be, I want to go home.  Well this is just one of the memorable quotes from the academy award winning movie training day, written by David Ayer and directed by Antoine Fuqua. Training day is about a veteran police officer (Alonzo) who’s training a rookie police officer (Jake). The veteran officer takes the rookie officer on a twenty four hour period throughout the harsh streets of Los Angeles.  He try’s showing him tactics and strategies to become a good narcotics officer.  The Director Fuqua tries to show the most authentic environment as possible by shooting the film in the exact neighborhoods of the Los Angeles streets gangs. Fuqua informs his audience on the journeys of street cops and gang infested neighborhoods by using two narcotics police officers and the streets of Los Angeles.
Training day is about a veteran narcotics street cop (Alonzo) who takes a rookie cop (Jake) on a twenty four hour training period through out the streets of Los Angeles California. During the twenty four hour period Alonzo tries to teach Jake his knowledge and strategies of being a narcotics cop. This is so that Jake can eventually become a official narcotics cop and join the narcotics team. Jake is all in willing to learn but realizes Alonzo’s tactics and strategies are different from what he thought. Jake wants to protect and serve. All about locking up the criminals but Alonzo is all about everything but that being a crooked cop. Alonzo puts Jake in numerous situations were he has to think under pressure. He convinces Jake to do drugs while on the job. Also he takes Jake on a job with three other cops. They seizes a couple of million dollars from a know drug dealers property but when Alonzo offers Jake to take a cut of the money Jake is confused and says no. After realizing how Alonzo’s narcotics team is being ran Jake wants out this is not what I signed up for as he states in David Ayer Training Day but by this time it is to late Alonzo has left him in a Los Angeles gang members house were they are told to kill him. Jake eventually away after he convinces the Los Angeles gang members let him go for saving there little cousin early in the movie.  Jake still wants to do the right thing so he goes and finds Alonzo and takes back the money they stole early in a police raid that Alonzo is going to use to pay off the Russian mob. If Alonzo doesn’t pay off the debt he will be killed. Jake still takes the money any way and turns it in to the police as evidence. Alonzo gets killed later that night Jake has no sympathy for Alonzo. He feels the Los Angeles Police Department and the streets of Los Angeles will be a better place with out him.
David Ayer used many good strategies to inform his audience on the life of narcotics cops and gang infested neighborhoods. One strategy he used was showing the life of a crooked cop. This life shows how they abuse their authority, using it to their advantage, violating people’s rights, and breaking the law. In the movie the veteran officer Alonzo is crooked. His actions show him stealing from drug dealers and killing ex police officers.  Also he harasses innocence teenagers stealing from them as well. He gets away with it because he’s cop.  With this strategy Ayer informs us on what’s out there in the real world.  Anyone who has been arrested or harassed by the police can relate to this. The strategy affects the audience in many ways. The audience can relate to this because they see it every day in the urban communities. They see drug dealers and cops getting over folks always arresting, harassing, and killing innocence people. This creates a since of pathos with the audience getting emotional because they can relate to what there seeing. They feel for there people being treated so unfairly by crooked officers.
The next strategy Ayer uses is showing the life of a rookie cop trying to move up in the police force. In the movie Jake just wants to be and police officer. A police officer that protects, and serves, and locks away all the criminals, Jake wants to bring justice to anyone who breaks the law. He signs up for narcotics hoping to put away the drug dealers. In the movie he constantly says I just want to lock up the bad guys. This gives the audience a chance to see what being a cop really is all about. The audience can relate to this in many ways. Everybody knows how it feels being new to something and wanting to do the right thing. This strategy can be intended to all police officers in the world. I bet every office who seen this movie new exactly how it felt being a rookie on the force. Being trained hoping one day they can be detective. Ayer brings in a lot of pathos gaining emotion from these cops and people who can relate to Jakes journey. He’s just trying to do what he loves to do.
Last but not least the final strategy Ayer uses to inform his audience on the narcotics officer work and gang infested communities is filming in the streets in the Los Angeles. The streets of Los Angeles as we all know are very dangerous, particularly in the urban communities. They deal with drugs, poverty, violence and most importantly gangs. As I stated early in the text when shooting this film Ayer wanted to create the most authentic environment as possible. So he filmed all over Los Angeles and in particularly he filmed in the urban communities were the gangs originated from. This was the first time gangs even aloud cameras to be brought in there environment. This created a strong path of ethos. Giving the movie major credibility on the gangs and there way of living. The audience is connected to this because every state in United States of America has an urban community. During the movie there were shoot outs and drug scenes. Also there were drug users and rapist in the movie. All these things are exactly what are going on in the urban communities of Los Angeles. Some of the gang’s members were not actors but actual members of Los Angeles streets gangs. Ayer is showing all this to his audience. He gives a perfect description to his audience of gang life and the streets of Los Angeles.
David Ayers plan when writing this film was not just to tell an ordinary story of a narcotics cop but to tell show the whole world the harsh realities of gangs and intercity violence those that involve law enforcement and innocence people the Los Angeles setting was the perfect environment for the film it gave a on point view of the realities of streets. Ayer did a perfect job on informing his audience on the journeys of street cops and gang infested neighborhoods by using two narcotics police officers and the streets of Los Angeles. The streets of Los Angeles are a dangerous place and can get to the best of us even police officers. Jake found that out when he step in to his trainers office a Monte Carlo. This film proves just because you’re wearing a badge doesn’t always mean you’re the good guy.
