The summer was over and it is the beginning of Jason eleventh grade semester.  Starting the eleventh grade with a GPA standing at a 1.8 Jason next two years of school were very important to his life. The ACT’S were coming up in the fall and college applications were piling up in the hard drive of Jason’s computer.  Not really thinking about grades and college before the eleventh grade Jason has finally sat down and thought about these things and his life after high school. Jason has come to conclude that he needs to go to college and earn a degree but he realizes this is not as easy as it sounds. With a low GPA and bad test taking skills Jason is faced with one of many important experiences and decisions in his teenage life. Jason signs up for his classes and gets to work. His last two years high school was his best year’s academic wise. Jason ended his last year of high school with a 2.6 GPA and a 14 on his ACT score, after taking it twice. Jason applied to many college universities and were accepted to a couple. He decide to go to a major university close to home after getting accepted threw a program for students who didn’t meet the general education requirements to be regularly admitted. These students are basically given a second chance to be admitted to the university even though they have low ACT scores and GPAs which Jason did. After starting the eleventh grade and realizing it was time to do something with himself, Jason was hit with many important life decisions in his teenage life. Just like him many teenagers are face with the same important decisions. Questions like what college are you going to? what is your ACT score? What are your plans after high school? Are just some of many questions teenagers are face to deal with. These can be very stressful on a teenager but are very important to their life. These situations are experience by everybody in their teenage life. People are faced with a decision to finally step out on their own and become an adult. During the teenage years there are many experiences that test the teenager responsibility and decision making skills as their growing up. Most people call the teenager years the adolescence of life meaning the transition stage of mental and human development but I believe that teenage life is a training session for adult hood.
In the 1900s most people did not acknowledge there was a thing as adolescent until an American physiologist and educator Stanley Hall created the theory.  Adolescent development is between the ages of 14 and 24. In Jeffery Jesnese article “G. STANLEY HALL’S ADOLESCENCE: Brilliance and Nonsense” he quotes Stanley Hall stating that  “storm and stress is a universal and inevitable part of adolescent development”. Also stated by Jeffery Jensen in his article he says the Stanley insures that adolescents is when all young people go through some degree of emotional and behavioral upheaval before establishing a more stable equilibrium in adulthood. I agree with Jeffery article on Stanley research believing that teenage life is adolescences development. During this time of teenager years the teenager is seeing and experience new things in life and their brain is still fresh as stated by an 18 year old high school student Nthabiseng in her article “Teen life”  the brain is like a sponge and soaks up everything that comes to it. Adolescence can also be physical development according to Novella Ruffin, Extension Specialist, and Virginia State University in his article “Adolescent Growth and Development teenage boys and girls can grow physically 3 to 4 inches at a time. Also sex characteristics tend to rise such as hormonal levels also boy’s facial and pubic hairs tend to grow, and their voices get deeper. Girls reach their first menstrual cycle their breasts get bigger and they tend to form a nice body shape.

Being a teenage can be a very stressful time in life. Most teenagers are put to the test with making decisions as they go through situations. There is countless number of things teen’s experiences in their life. Some are drugs, alcohol, pregnancy, peer pressure and relationships. Trying to balance all these things at once can take a toll on a teenager’s life. First drugs and alcohol is a big influence in teenagers’ life. Some teenagers use drugs and alcohol because they think it is cool and it gives them a good feeling. This can put a teenager at risk of multiple things. Underage drinking and doing drugs can be harmful to the teen’s life. Some teenagers get addicted at an early age and become immune to the alcohol and drugs this sets up a bad effect in the adulthood years by starting off early. Second relationships can be just as life threatening as drugs and alcohol. As a teenager your hormones are raging and you are attracted to the opposite sex. Teenagers tend to get into relationships with other people. These reactions can cause stress and emotional withdraw. Teenagers might feel they need to be with someone in order to be happy. As a result of being with someone this can bring on teen pregnancy and  marriage. Both of these are becoming real common in teenage life. Also relationships with family and friends can be demanding as well. Some teenagers go through divorces with their parents and this can be stressful on the teen. This can affect their grades and personal life. The relationships teenager have with their friends can be overwhelming friends can put the friends under peer pressure to do things. These things can be drugs, alcohol, stealing, etc. Some teenagers think they might have  to do these things to fit in or look cool, to attracted attention.  I know hands on how it feels to deal with each of these things personally. I’ve been under lots of peer pressure negative and positive. Both can be very stress full. Also going through high school balancing my grades and sports was not easy, and last but not least drugs and alcohol was always around. The people I hang out with everyday were everyday users and always wanted me to join them. All these things tested my ability to make my own decisions good or bad, and experience things that would change my life. As I sit back and look at some of the things I went through and currently are still experiencing it make me come to conclude that teenage life is a  training session for adult hood.  All these situations and life experiences teens go through effect, prepare and contribute to the teen’s adulthood. The experiences are very vital and can prepare a teenager for adulthood.  If teenager does bad in high school and doesn’t go to college their chance of getting a high paying career are very slim. Also another example is if you commit a crime and go to jail with a felony placed on your record this can affect your ability of getting a job in your adulthood. Some things can prepare a teen for adulthood. An example is a family four one brother and three sisters. One of the sisters is the oldest. She takes on the responsibility of watching her younger siblings. This gives her a chance to experience how to take care of another person. It’s a learning experience as a teenager when she reaches adulthood and have children of her own, she will have some experience taking care of a child.
Training sessions prepares some one for the next level just like teenage life (training session for adulthood) drivers training are both similar. As a teenager at 16 if you want your licenses you have to undergo a training session to receive your level 1, level 2, level three, and operator’s licenses. Once you study driving, practice going out on the road, and take various test you receive your license. This relates to teenage life because during this time you are put through numerous situations experiences and test ant a young age that prepares you for adulthood. Also even know you went through these test and experiences you still don’t know exactly what adulthood or driving with a license is until you actually go out and experience them, but you have been prepared well.
Jason didn’t realize what he was getting himself into his early year of high school until the eleventh grade of high school after working his tale off  his last two years he was able to go on to college. During this time he experience such things as peer pressure and very important decisions making in his teenage life or adolescences period according to Stanley Hall. This situation and experience prepared him for adult hood. As a teenage you don’t know what life is going to present its self with you half to take it and strive rolling with the punches, but there is numerous amount of situations and experiences you undergo. This situations are very vital to your adult hood can make or break it. Therefore this brings me to conclude that teenage life is a training session for adulthood.
